Kevin,
Of course you know now that Madison has seen that pumpkin, she wants to grow one. Still not much rain to speak of here. Wood pellet plant here has taken a lot of sawdust away fom Kingsford. They were willing to pay more for it. I don't know a lot about ethanol production, but I know enough to know it's a step in the right direction. Somehow we have got to get away from fossil fuels. Firewood is big business here. Lots of folks burn it.

Joel,
The picture of the kids with the pumpkin reminded me of the old nursery rhyme, "Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater." It looks like Maddie can fit inside that pumpkin!
Glad you got some rain, I know you are still drier than what you would normally, and ought to be. The good point is the construction crew can keep on working, and make progress. (So long as they don't get side tracked on something else.)
My buddy at the wood pellet plant told me that they had a shake up in management, so it looks like they will not be getting into full production for another 6 months or so. Right now it is just him, the CEO and some contractors working out there. (They even let the secretary go, so he is working part of the time in the office as well as doing general maintenance, production and other duties.) When they get going they are planning on producing both wood pellets and cellulose derived ethanol.
I had a couple of oak trees die in the yard of the rental house so I told the tenant I planned on taking them down. He went to work cutting them down for me, so I told him he could sell or give the wood away to pay him back for his time and fuel. He has two piles of wood with a sign beside it next to the road. If the weather continues to get colder I am sure he sell everything shortly. (A lot of people seem to wait until the last minute to buy firewood, and this wood has been drying out for over twelve months, ought to be well seasoned.)

It should be all about the kids! My mom was a social worker for 29 years so I geuss I had a good teacher. I'll tell you honestly though I couldn't stick it to my ex if I wanted to. The courts here are so biased against men I wouldn't stand a fighting chance. Case in point, my ex wife lost custody of Katie and I still could not get custody of her. The judge gave custody to her grandmother. Katie is 12. I'll hand it to BJ, she wants me to be a part of our kids lives. Our kids stairstep 12-10-8-6.
I used to love to hunt, fish, and trap. Lately I've been so busy I haven't been able to though. Garett will want to hunt. He already likes to fish. I've told them if I ever leave here we're going to Alaska. We bought some old VHS tapes on Ebay of The Wilderness Family and they all think that's pretty cool!

Katie is my daughter from a previous marriage. Unfortunately she lives with her maternal grandmother. The court system in Kentucky is still a very "good ole buddy system". It's not about the law here, it's about who you are and how much money you have. That's a whole other rant though. Funny thing is biologicaly Kaylee does not belong to me, but is more like me than some of my other children. Bj and I each came into our relationship with a child. One of the first things we agreed on was that there would be no stepchilden or half siblings. They all are equal unfortunately though Katie does not live with me. Kind of falls in line with my philosophy of "folks is folks, all different, but none better than others". Maybe we should change the name of this blog huh? Thanks for the comment!
